Encouraging open discussions

Asean foreign ministers will hold their next two-day annual retreat beginning April 19 in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement Sunday the retreat would be chaired by Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, who is chairman of the 39th Asean Standing Committee.

"The annual retreat, conducted in an informal setting has no formal agenda in order to allow the ministers to engage in an open, frank and free-flowing discussion on important issues affecting the region," the statement said.

Indonesian President Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will host a luncheon for the Asean foreign ministers on April 20.

We are welcoming the ministers from Thailand till Timor Leste for a refreshing weekend here, but our map does not show the newest ASEAN member Timor Leste yet.
