Bali Mystic Arts Craft Tour


This is a flexible itinerary that allows for unexpected opportunities. We hope to see unscheduled events such as a cremation, temple festival, processions, and dances.

DAY 1-3:
fly to Bali (crossing the International Dateline we will lose a day) arriving in Denpasar mid-morning. Travel to town of Ubud, Bali's art center. We will stay with the Prince of Ubud in his palace.

DAY 4:
explore Ubud; visit local artists, craftsmen, museums, & galleries. See night performance of Barong Dance.

DAY 5:
travel to the painter's village of Pengosekan, the wood carving village of Mas, and the gold & silver-craft town of Celuk. See night performance of the Kecak Dance.

DAY 6:
Visit local art galleries and the ARMA and the NEKA art museums. Both museums are new and full of wonderful works.

DAY 7:
Ride through countryside to Kintamani for mountain top view of Mount Agung, Bali's sacred mountain. VisitTampaksiring's sacred spring, Tirtha Em-pul, & nearby backstrap loom weavers.

DAY 8:
Visit moat enclosed temple at Mengwi, Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave), and Pejengâ€'s monumental bronze drum (300 BC).

DAY 9:
Travel to Besakih Bali's most sacred temple located on the side of Mount Agung.

DAY 10:
Time set aside for unscheduled events such as a cremation and temple festival.

DAYS 11-13:
Travel toward Amlapura on Bali's east coast where we will stay for the next three nights. Visit Klungkungâ€'s Kerta Gosa, Hall of Justice that has vivid paintings showing the punishment of wrong doers. Meet back-strap loom weavers of the sacred "Geringsing" double ikat in the Bali Aga village of Tenganan. Visit a "Gong" gamelan instrument workshop; see master craftsmen carve elaborate decorations onto the musical instruments. Meet painters of the "Wayang" old style paintings and silversmiths in the village of Kamasan.
See weavers use floor looms euipped with fly-shuttle mechanisms make ikat tie dye fabric.

DAY 14: Return to Ubud or continue on the optional Bali North Coast & Mountain Lake Villages extension.

DAY 15:
Fly home or continue on the optional Bali North Coast & Mountain Lake Villages extension.

(15 days) the price that includes hotel, ground transportation, entrance fees, activities, all breakfasts, two dinners, and five lunches is $1,995 per person without airfares. Single rooms are available for a supplementary charge of $455.
